It's like the shivers you might have gotten watching Prince at the Super Bowl that one year. Breathlessly transfixed, you knew something extraordinary was happening. You knew people worldwide were being moved. You knew history was being written. Well that's what it's like when Stephen gets behind the camera. Suddenly the everyday, the ordinary, the run-of-the mill been there, done that spirit of human beings is lifted to a whole new place where they said only nosebleeds and dreams could take us. There are two truly great moments for me as a photographer: The shockwave that runs through my body when I see 'the' shot and the a-ha, when what I saw becomes a print.
My background? Born in Hawaii, raised in Philly, moved to Seattle, NYC, Portland, and Nashville at one time or another; add to that visits to Barcelona, Stockholm, Paris, Palermo, Tokyo and the Pacific Coast of Mexico.
Other highlights? Being the first staff photographer in Nordstrom history! Being beer baptized by the late great MCA of the Beastie Boys (RIP)! Becoming a father twice over.
